Our school excursions will provide an opportunity to both inform and reward your students. We will share how Science is used in what we do on a daily basis and have mapped our excursions to the Western Australian Curriculum for Science.
Excursions must be booked at least a week in advance.
FOR GRADES 1-4 $15.00pp
This experience includes:
- A tour of our naturalised ponds, explaining the role of the plants and fish.
- A closer look at some of the local native aquatic animals and fish.
- A look under the microscope at some of the tiny aquatic life that helps maintain an ecosystem.
- A round of minigolf
Western Australian Curriculum:
Living things live in different places where their needs are met (ACSSU211)
People use science in their daily lives, including when caring for their environment and living things (ACSHE022)
Living things grow, change and have offspring similar to themselves (ACSSU030)
Living things have life cycles (ACSSU072)
Living things depend on each other and the environment to survive (ACSSU073)
FOR GRADES 5-7 $15.00pp
This experience includes:
- A tour of our naturalised ponds, explaining the interdependence of the living organisms within them.
- A tour of our nutrient recycling aquaponics systems, explaining how the plants and fish help each other.
- A look at our aquariums, showing what fish can be kept together and why in relation to the food chain as well as a water testing practical to show how the aquariums mimic natural fish environments.
- A round of 18 holes of minigolf
Western Australian Curriculum:
Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment (ACSSU043)
The growth and survival of living things are affected by physical conditions of their environment (ACSSU094)
Interactions between organisms can be described in terms of food chains and food webs; human activity can affect these interactions (ACSSU112)
Water is an important resource that cycles through the environment (ACSSU222)
FOR GRADES 6-9 $35.00pp
This experience includes:
- Each student will build their own small terrarium to take home.
- Within the building process, the role of each part of the terrarium will be explained including how it is important to the ecosystem and related back to our surrounding environment.
- An explanation of the water cycle will be related to the movement of water within the terrarium as well as the carbon and nitrogen cycles for the older groups.
- A round of 18 holes of minigolf

Water is an important resource that cycles through the environment (ACSSU222)
Ecosystems consist of communities of interdependent organisms and abiotic components of the environment; matter and energy flow through these systems (ACSSU176)
Global systems, including the carbon cycle, rely on interactions involving the biosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere (ACSSU189)
FOR GRADES 8-10 $20.00pp
This experience includes:
- A tour of our self sustaining ponds and aquaponics systems with an in depth explanation of the filtration equipment and processes
- An explanation of the trials and tribulations which formed part of the learning process in building and improving our systems.
- A tour and guide of how we care for and selectively breed aquarium and pond fish.
- A guide to caring for aquatic animals and plants through an understanding of the water, carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycles.
- A round of 18 holes of minigolf

Transmission of heritable characteristics from one generation to the next involves DNA and genes (ACSSU184)
